The clock is ticking, and I don’t just mean until Season 4 of The Crown on Netflix on November 15. In the new trailer for the royal drama, the countdown begins for the much-anticipated wedding of Charles and Diana, whose turbulent relationship is poised to be the centerpiece of the new season of the Emmy-winning series.
Narrated by the real Archbishop of Canterbury, Robert Runcie, with the words from the real speech he gave during Charles and Diana’s wedding, the trailer gives us a glimpse at “the stuff of which fairy tales are made” — but don’t necessarily end in “happily ever after.”
As a period drama nerd is wont to do, I combed through the latest peek behind those gilded Buckingham Palace walls to tease out some clues for what we may expect in the upcoming season — dashed fairy tales and all.
No Letting Up For Princess Margaret
Last we saw of Margaret in the Season 3 finale, "Cri de Couer," life wasn't treating her kindly. She was recovering from an overdose on nitrazepam amidst separating from her husband, Antony Armstrong-Jones.
From the looks of the trailer, Season 4 will still be giving her a rough go of it. We see shots of her gazing at her reflection in a pool and taking solitary walks through crashing waves on the beach, likely seeking refuge on her Caribbean island getaway in Mustique she visited with Roddy last season.
