What's New In The 'Succession' Season 3 Opening Credits, You Ask? A Lot

The drumbeat followed by the plink of the piano tells any Succession fan that it's on... and once you finished grooving to the certified bop that is the theme song during the HBO show's triumphant return on Oct. 17, you might have noticed the changes to the Succession Season 3 opening credits. Just like the credits were tweaked between Seasons 1 and 2, the Season 3 opening montage was too, and gave us some new shots to interpret.

If the Season 1 credits represented Kendall's relationship to Logan and the Season 2 represented Shiv's relationship to Logan, what do the changes in Season 3 represent?

When Succession first premiered in 2018, the intro started with the dad placing his hand on one of the son's shoulders (a stand-in for Kendall) in retro home-video shots. Season 2 made it more of a family affair with the four children right off the bat, before focusing more on the girl in the family (Shiv). Season 3's intro keeps all four kids and at first look, it may appear that this season's credits don't focus on one single child. But with some new imagery added in, the credits might imply that it's Roman's time to shine (sorry, Con).

Although there are fewer shots of the country estate, a lot of the shots are the same, like with the girl leading the Shetland pony, the wife staring after her absent husband (wherefore art thou, Marcia??), and the skyscrapers of New York City.
