"I would not be the Monique that everybody knows and loves today if my story was not what it was," says Monique Heart in the latest episode of Exposed: Dragged Out, hosted by Joseph Shepherd. And the Monique we all watched on Season 10 of RuPaul's Drag Race and All-Stars 4 was nothing if not unique. Not only did Monique manage to release her own single, "Brown Cow Stunning," but she is one of the few contestants that actually crafted her own costumes. "No matter what your budget is, you have to have good taste," Monique tells Joseph. "It has to be executed well."
But in their conversation, Monique talks to Joseph about more than just her time on Drag Race — Monique also discusses growing up in the church, her stint on AJ and The Queen, and racism in the drag community. And she also comes with sage advice for other LGBTQ+ people finding themselves in this world: "Know what kind of tree you are in the sense that all trees don't bear fruit in the same season ... You can only produce what is you, or it won't be good fruit."
To find out, listen to the brand-new episode, sponsored by ZocDoc, below, or on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts to listen to Monique talk about changing her drag name, coining a catchphrase, and why All-Stars was so much better than Season 10. Sashay your way to that play button!
