It’s not a red flag. I just don’t think it’s appropriate for a first date. I’m snobby like that first dates you go all out. Now like the fifth and sixth let’s go get that 2 for $25 baby!

I don't think it's that big of a deal maybe they wanted an excuse to use it before it expires.

I mean.... I guess it's okay? Honestly it depends on the place. If it's a cute neighborhood spot where he's a regular so he has like a freebie for an appetizer or a gorgeous bottle of wine, then I think it's totally fine, no red flags. 

But a coupon for like a piece of cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory? RUN. Any major chains for a first date...eh not a smooth move. 

But maybe that's just how he is and personality and values > picking the location.

Well hold on i feel there is a key piece of information we're missing. Is this coupon for a restaurant / meal? Or an experience type of thing?

Cuz, if it's a "Buy Two Apps, Get An Entree" deal at the Cracker Barrell or something, yeah I'd run away.

But if it was a two-for-one skydiving lesson?  Or massage? That's just good bargain hunting.

It's less about the coupon, or wanting to use one, it's more about his or her lack of knowledge around social norms/romance. That, to me, is a red flag!

Oh no!!! I remember feeling so embarrassed back in the day when I'd use a Groupon for something, I think I'd literally die of embarrassment if my date pulled out a coupon for our first date. Depending on the restaurant and the guy, I might actually be so embarrassed that I'd cancel the date. 

Idk this sounds like a deeply pragmatic man. That or he's getting the 10th meal for free

My first date with my now wife was technically a Burger King, so maybe I shouldn't answer this question.

I don't want to sound like a snob, but... what would you think if you were talking to someone (a normal, working, single man) on a dating app for a couple of weeks and you finally set a date to go out. Everything seems great in the planning process until he suggests "Let's go to ____, I have a coupon." 

Is this a red flag? Are you a snob for not wanting to go out anymore? Doesn't it feel like something that could just be... saved for not a first date? Five star restaurants aren't necessary, but choosing a place based on a coupon?
