For me and my partner, it was an obvious inflection point. I think it does usually happen naturally when one of you is up for a rent renewal — that's the time when you start examining your relationship and finances and, usually, it just makes sense. 

Seconding what BWB_Kaya said.  i think you have to have a good feel for their day-to-day self before you move in. And especially — you gotta see how they live.

I’d say if you’re spending six or seven nights a week together already and have been for several months it’s time to combine forces and live under one official roof.

I think the pandemic forced many people to be in a love bubble that has been popping as we’ve been coming back to our regular lives and we will start to see even more break ups in the future. 

But to answer the question, it feels like you have to go through all four seasons together, meet each other’s family and know closest friends on a first name basis, see them mad, travel together, and go through one big change. If you survive that — you’re ready to move in!

Is it a specific feeling? How long do you think is appropriate. I feel the rules have changed since the pandemic, right? 

I moved in with my partner during the pandemic, we had been thinking about doing it for a while but didn't know if we were ready. Then, when everyone fled NYC, we found the cutest little spot in the West Village. The rest is history!
