Erika Jayne Girardi first joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2015; she was brought on as a “friend of” by Yolanda Hadid (then Foster). Erika was platinum blonde, had big boobs, a dry sense of humor, a rich husband 20 years older than her and she made no apologies for any of it. She had this cool, “down ass chick” kind of attitude but, at the same time, would give us some serious glam.
And there, in that sentence, lies her downfall.
I firmly believe I was put on this planet to take down the rise of Glam Squads. I said this to Andy Cohen on WWHL, and I said it with my whole chest. I hate all the Real Housewives’ Glam Squads, and Erika Jayne Girardi is to blame.
Because when you stop to think about it, the main focus in any Erika storyline (up until the forthcoming Season 11, but more on that in a bit) has revolved around her fashions, her glam team, her couture, and sometimes her dance rehearsals, if we’re lucky.
And even those scenes mostly focus on her outfits and hair extensions. We don’t see or learn anything about her actual life. We barely know anything about her, except that she has a police officer son. And we all remember what happened when that was brought up in Season 7 at a dinner in Hong Kong. It wasn’t pretty. “You don't know what I go through at night!” etc. Which is why the stuff about her and Tom came as such a shock.
