Even with an extended Droughtlander, the Outlander production team has been tight-lipped about any casting for Season 6. But thanks to good old fashioned social media, the fandom may have its first (unofficial) casting announcement. Based on some tweets, a genius spot by OutlanderBTS, and an Instagram Story, it looks like Alexander Vlahos may be joining Outlander Season 6.
Vlahos is no stranger to period pieces since he played Monsieur Philippe d'Orléans, the younger brother of King Louis XIV, in Versailles. That means the Welsh actor played the great-great-uncle of King Louis XV — the king that was on the throne when Jamie and Claire were hanging around Versailles in Outlander Season 2. Vlahos also has some fantasy TV experience from when he replaced Asa Butterfield as Mordred in Merlin. Both Versailles and Merlin are available on Netflix.
Vlahos also has written and directed projects, but Outlander fans are understandably excited about his new potential acting role. Let's delve into where these Season 6 casting rumors started and who he could be playing.
Looking Forward To The Year Ahead
With more than 15,000 tweets, Vlahos is active on Twitter and he rang in the New Year thinking about what's to come. In his list of things to look forward to in 2021, he included, "Starting a new acting role," with the Scottish flag emoji and the dagger knife emoji... classic Outlander emojis. I think that's all the evidence fans need, but I'll go on.
