I’m pretty sure Netflix is done paying top-top-top dollar for content. They’ve become pervasive enough (no one needs a Disney+ subscription, but we all need a Netflix subscription) that they can spend less on everything. I’m pretty sure that’s why we’ve gotten more cheaply made dramas with less star appeal, and all the reality shows. Networks used it to save money in the early 2000s, so it’s not surprising that Netflix is doing it too. 

But, I am enjoying their reality content!

It really is hard to imagine the fact that this network was more known for heavy-hitters like House of Cards and Stranger Things just a few years ago. 

I can’t say I’ve loved all their scripted stuff the last few years, but I actually think they’ve done an excellent job on reality. They’re super clever, and LiB and The Circle are super well-cast. I walk away liking their reality stars, which is rare for network. 

But, yeah, Vh1 walked so they could run. 

Yes! And I am not against the shift. What's interesting though, to me at least, is you can feel the budget is there when it's with Netflix. Sometimes, Network TV seems to be cutting corners for production sake. But Netflix feels, idk... richer? more expensive? But at what cost? Has it hurt it's scripted TV category? (IDK the answer to that... discuss?)

I feel like Netflix used to be the premiere spot for streaming. In ways, it still is, but lately it has been the IT spot for reality TV (Selling Sunset, Love Is Blind, THTH, etc.) I literally just logged on and now I'm watching a show called "Young, Famous, and African" its the African Bling Empire. It all just makes me laugh. Has anyone else noticed this shift in Netflix?
