American Song Contest

So I recently watched American Song Contest the other day, which is on NBC on Mondays at 8 pm eastern time. The premise of the show entails artists from across the country (can be solo or a group) performing and competing for the best song. It's hosted by Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg. I believe each state has a representing artist, which leads me to the question: is this kind of America's version of Eurovision? Let me know if any of you guys have watched it too!
