I've talked about this in therapy A LOT. I  become too self-aware and self-critique how I'm reacting. I'm like, "OK, Bread, now yuo need to say, OH I'M SO SORRY ABOUT THAT THING" and then i review how I delivered that line. Aka possible sociopath! 

Depends on the circumstance. If it’s a death in the family or something tragic, then I’m pretty confident in being there for them. If it’s crying over a fight we’re having or something I’m responsible for, I am deeply uncomfortable and will do anything to stop it, including offering up my first born. 

I think there’s a Liz Lemon quote: “There, there, don’t be cry.” That’s 100% me. I will do ANYTHING to stop tears if I see them. Let’s all be happy! Happy!

I am not someone who is like "omg why are you crying" type of person, but I do try to point out the humor in the situation that person is crying about while also being sensitive to them. 

Your friend is crying over something pretty serious. How do you react? Are you a comforting person or are you an ‘oh my God please stop I don’t know what to do stare you in the face type person?’

Me, I freeze up and then I try to crack a joke.
