Our Podcast Investigates The History Of 'Hart Of Dixie,' Or, Southern 'Gilmore Girls'

As a writer stuck in Gossip Girl's New York City, Leila Gerstein was eager to explore some "city girl porn" — or, as she said an atmosphere "I want to move to, with parades; where people dangle their feet off the porches and sip mint juleps." So, she moved on from Chuck Bass' very dirty martinis to Bluebell, Alabama's Rammer Jammer and created The CW's Hart of Dixie. But how did the series go from a germ of an idea to four beloved seasons?

That's what my TV. Watch. Repeat. co-host Allison Piwowarski and I explore in our latest episode, centered around the Rachel Bilson vehicle that left hearts pounding, and not just because of Wade Kinsella's shirtlessness. In this episode, Allison and I chat Wilson Bethel's history with The O.C., where you might have seen the Hart of Dixie set before, and the evolution of George. Plus, the impossible-to-ignore problems about celebration of the Old South, and the Friday Night Lights reunion that led Scott Porter to the series in the first place.

So raise your julep, and enjoy our latest episode of TV. Watch. Repeat. on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. And be sure to check out our daily pop culture podcast, Pop Chaser, for all your entertainment headline needs, y'all.
