Several months? I think it's got to be a phone conversation at the very least, unless you've only been on 3 or so dates (or if he's being REALLY weird, and doesn't deserve to get more). I think you would be hurt if it were the other way around, even though it's so much easier. 

ooo this is a tough one. I understand wanting to see it all written out, but feel like it's impersonal...I feel like it's OK to text if they initiate, as long as you're open to a phone call/talking about it. 

I actually would have more anxiety texting — there’s more pressure to get everything right when you have time to think about it. Dialing the phone is the most stressful part — once the conversation happens, it feels like things would feel better than having to watch the three dots. 

I think in-person is the best way to really shoe your feelings. Over text, things can sound way too crafted. 

I feel like it helps me reread things and not play the mind game of “did they or didn’t they say that” when I inevitably relive the convo. I think as long as you’re like “I wanna have a serious convo do you wanna talk on the phone” and they say “just text it.” Then fair game! 

I'm a slow thinker so I like text! But would respect the other person's desire to hop on the phone if they wanted to.

Set the scene: you've been dating for several months, and you guys are texting and he can sense something is off and initiates the conversation. 

I personally don't see the big deal with this, and that might be a hot take. I have a friend who refuses to have serious convos over text but I don't mind it. It gives me a chance to gather my thoughts and write them out.
