I like old-school corny, but I think the problem with HIMYF is it just feels dated. Not that there isn't a place for it — The Good Place was corny as hell, but still felt modern. There's just something about the laugh track, plus the predictable jokes that doesn't vibe right now. 

That said, I feel like people would enjoy it if you told them HIMYF came out in 1998. 

This is how I felt for And Just Like That. They totally missed the mark tone-wise, but I never wanted it to end! 

The complaints about HIMYF all revolve around it being cheesy or corny - and not being in on the joke. And it's true... so, so, so true. I'm here to admit that I don't mind that; I recognize it and think that adds to the charm of the show. No promises that I'll stick through the full series, but for now, it brings joy.
