I love her voice because she always sounds like she's battling a head cold and it gives "Smelly Cat When Phoebe Has A Cold" vibes every song.  But I do not think she is a good performer. I saw her perform on SNL and she writhed around on a bed and it was not sexy it was just awkward. Could tell it was someone's idea, not hers -- that just ain't her. Speaking of awkward... that cooking show of hers. Oof. OK I feel kinda bad ragging on her, but it is random that she's a wild success...

I heard one of her songs in Target yesterday and I literally thought to myself, "how did this song get so huge?"

I completely agree, mediocre at best. I do love her makeup though, I think that has become her strong suit.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way! Only artist I had to remove from Spotify because she came up on all my playlists. I can’t name one person I know who is a fan. 

Spent a holiday season working at Old Navy and have the songs on the store playlist were by her. She’ll never be the same in my eyes

Omg I've always tried to put my finger on why I feel like everything she does is...lacking...even though it's covered everywhere and gets tons of buzz. This theory would explain it. 

I will say I really loved her in "Only Murders", this theory makes sense though because she's really not all that talented in regards to her singing career. 

I always thought she sounded excessively bored in all of her songs. I do think she’s becoming slightly more interesting with Only Murders, though. 

I agree that most of Selena's catalog is pretty ho-hum, but I'll stand by "Bad Liar" as a very good tune!

That said, almost everything else is very much "background noise at Target". 

Hmm good question. I don't know honestly it's hard for me to say. But lately I am not really into her music but to be honest I like her better as an actress than singer.

Ok hear me out. I just don’t get how everything Selena does is automatically breaking records and hitting top of the charts when shes… no offense mediocre at best.
