Is The Trinity Killer A Ghost? A Surprising 'Dexter' Return & More From 'Pop Chaser'

In the Season 4 finale of Dexter, serial killer Dexter Morgan bludgeoned the Trinity Killer to death with a hammer. In turn, the series' writers bludgeoned the show to death with a series of mind-boggling seasons and choices. It seemed, following John Lithgow's terrifying turn as Trinity Killer, there was no way but down for the series. But, as it turns out, things might be popping back up. Because someone is popping back up: The Dexter reboot announced John Lithgow is returning to the series.

But, in what form? How will Dexter make a dead man walk again? It wouldn't be a stretch of imagination to assume that Lithgow's Trinity Killer will be in Dexter's imagination — much like Dexter's father throughout the run of the show. But whereas Harry Morgan served as Dexter's moral compass, the Trinity Killer would be a much more sinister presence in his head. Or will he simply be a ghost, a Jacob Marley-esque presence that tries to guide Dexter through his wrongs?

It will be some time before we know for certain, but that doesn't mean we can't speculate — and that's exactly what my co-host Allison Piwowarski and I did in today's episode of Pop Chaser. We chat about what the series could do with his return, and touch on some Succession news to boot.
