Jamie & Claire’s Relationship In 'Outlander' Season 6 May Be Rocky Based On These Ominous Quotes

On Outlander, there's been the "reckoning," the second wife, the wedding ring debacle... all incidents that demonstrate that the perfect love Claire and Jamie share does not always equal a perfect marriage. Though you may expect things to mellow out as they get older, Jamie and Claire's relationship in Outlander Season 6 may yet again hit a rough patch if clues from the cast and crew are to be believed. And why wouldn't you heed these warnings? After all, Outlander author Diana Gabaldon likes to keep things interesting and her novel that the sixth season is based on, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, is no exception.

For Season 6, Caitriona Balfe has said in numerous interviews that Claire will still be dealing with the trauma of her capture and assault from the Season 5 finale. As she noted to Harper's Bazaar, Jamie will be there to support her through some of it. "I don't know if you can call it fortunate, but the thing that will be helpful for her is that Jamie understands and has had his own experience of this," Balfe said. "They will be able to share it in some way."

Yet, just as Season 2 saw the couple struggling to connect after Jamie's torture and sexual abuse, the same might occur following Claire's attack. "... you don't go through something like this without it changing you deeply," Balfe told Harper's Bazaar. When it came to Claire processing her trauma in the sixth novel, Tracey Randinelli of My Outlander Purgatory previously told me, "It's literally the only time in the entire book series when I thought to myself, 'Oh my god, are they going to make it?'"
