Thank you!! I used to really dislike his style of comedy and the films he was in, like, back in his Van Wilder days. I kinda think his schtick is annoying but I did enjoy his Peloton ad after AJLT. And think that he is probably overall a nice guy, whatever that means anymore!

Ryan Reynolds is the man all men think women want, when he’s really the man all men want. Just, like, calm down, Van Wilder.

I just wrote an article ranking all of his movies over at Looper and I was truly shocked how many bad movies he's been in. I do think his niceness and sense of humor is what's appealing about him, though. When he gets to lean into that in a movie, it works better. But I don't think he's one of those actors who necessarily elevates material. Like if the role is suited to his strengths (charming, witty one-liners), he gets the job done. But if more of a stretch is needed, it's a lot more iffy.

I think his sense of dry sarcastic humor is appealing to some people. Not everyone though (for me, it gets very old). Seems like he plays the same character in every movie. 

You know how they say child stars stop aging emotionally when they become famous? Ryan wasn’t a child star, but I feel like he plateaued emotionally with Van Wilder, if not Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place. 

That said, I thought he was hilarious when I was 15, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the prime market he’s serving. 

You're definitely not alone here. His whole "Aren't I just a lil' stinker?" act gets on my nerves so badly. 

I think that he has that all American boy next door energy that midwestern women love while also having the ability to be a funny family man. And people love Blake Lively so that bumps him up ten points

OMG I love Ryan Reynolds lol. I feel like he's the perfect mix of sarcasm, humor and charm!! Also, like he's so handsome.

Looks like I’m in the minority here but I really like Ryan Reynolds but he has been in some bad projects for sure but I feel like maybe that’s more of a reflection of his agent than him? I do feel like he plays the same character a lot but I know that going in and it sets my expectation appropriately for the movie. 

Side note: loved seeing the Jen Garner/Mark Ruffalo reunion in this! 

No I totally agree... I like him but I feel he is so over the top and him and Blake's schtick is just tired at this point. They are a more glamorous version of Dax and Kristen Bell IMO.

We watched the Adam Project the other night. Cute film, but I really don’t understand the appeal of Ryan Reynolds. Seems like a nice enough guy, but just pretty average in most areas. What am I missing here???
