What is something you thought would be a MUCH bigger problem as a kid

I was constantly worried about having to face quicksand as a child. I grew up in a metro suburb and yet, I made sure I KNEW how to get out of quicksand should the situation arise. (And I really thought the situation was going to arise OFTEN.)

I also thought I would be facing tornadoes / twisters about once a week, that Stop Drop And Roll was gonna save my LIFE from a house fire, and that I was going to only exclusively write in cursive once I hit 18!

What are some things that you thought as a kid would be a much bigger problem once you became an adult?
