Nico Tortorella On The 'Younger' Series Finale & The Weirdness Around The Josh/Charles Storyline

After seven seasons, the Younger series finale took us full circle on us, bringing us back to Liza at a bar, trying to catch a bartender’s attention with her shoe and running into… Josh. Is this a win for Team Josh? Should we celebrate as we say goodbye to the identity-fraud/publishing-career rom-com?

To help us sort what that all means for the characters and what’s next for the actor who portrayed the most supportive ex on television, The Dipp talked to Nico Tortorella as they took a break while shooting The Walking Dead: World Beyond in Virginia.

The Dipp: How are you doing, really?

Nico Tortorella: Honestly, I’m good. I’ve been really lucky. I shot The Walking Dead: World Beyond for six months pre-2020, and then shot a season of Younger, and we had this epic finale goodbye, and then went straight back to The Walking Dead. I’ve been shooting here since January or February. So I feel really blessed to have art so closely imitating life, so I can channel a lot of that into it.

But I think I’m also in this hibernation period, trying to figure out what exactly the next move is. I’ve been reflecting a lot on the past, and what platforms to use, and what the messaging is. That’s shifting.

On Instagram, you offered a safe space for people to get their thoughts out about Team Josh. In some ways, Team Josh wins, but it’s also an ambiguous ending.
