Imagine scrolling the internet and coming across the headline: "Lily Collins to Play Polly Pocket in Live-Action Movie From Lena Dunham." Variety reported today that Dunham is putting her "own spin on Polly," as the feature film's writer and director. I don't think this is something we need, but I will watch the fuck out of it.

Apparently, this will be about a woman who befriends a small pocket-sized woman. Now, I have to say I judged when I saw Mattel Films was behind this, because I just imagine poorly-made children's movies, but I was wrong to judge. They've produced about 15 films since 2014 and they're in talks with Greta Gerwig about making a Barbie film starring Margot Robbie. I'm down for that, too.

And listen, I know she is problematic as hell, but Dunham gave us GIRLS and that was a goddamn masterpiece. Yes, it wasn't a perfect show and she has since gave us many reasons to doubt her personally, but Polly Pocket? Lily Collins? I don't understand but I don't hate it. Lena told Variety: "I'm so thrilled to bring to bear both my love of this historic property and also my deep seated belief that young women need smart playful films that speak to them without condescension." And to that I say, cheers. Wish you all the best and I will watch every minute of it.

And I have to ask what we're all thinking: Was the Summer House star Paige DeSorbo consulted about this?? She legit is a real-life Polly Pocket (see Twitter thread above) and she literally is a Polly Pocket. She has the look and the attitude that I would like to see, and the sass. I demand Paige to be the Polly Pocket.

No release date for the film has been announced.
