A Timeline Of Paul's '90 Day Fiancé' Past And (Unlikely) Future

When it comes to choosing just one scene that sums up the remarkable, yet terrifying, emotional rollercoaster that is 90 Day Fiancé and its many spin-offs, there are more than a few options to choose from. Unsurprisingly to many fans, most of these options involve the one and only Paul Staehle.

Consider the time when 34-year-old Paul from Kentucky told 21-year-old Brazilian Karine’s father that he was going to propose via an obscene hand gesture? Or the time when he literally locked himself in a dilapidated dog shed rather than discuss the possibility of him getting a job? Oh yes, and we can’t forget, there’s also the whole carrying Karine’s hair with him in a plastic bag thing. All of this is slightly disturbing on a surface level, but it’s also the stuff of reality television gold. (Well, apart from the bag of hair, which is mostly just upsetting.) And it’s precisely why TLC has brought Paul and Karine back for spin-off after spin-off since they first debuted on the show in 2016 — until recently, anyway. Maybe? After years of renewed contracts, it seems that Paul and Karine might not be coming back to 90 Day Fiancé at all, and the details behind the change are a little murky to say the least.

To understand why many are speculating that Paul and Karine have been fired from 90 Day, it’s first important to understand the chaotic trajectory/implosion of their relationship. Their story starts off simply enough: Paul travels to Brazil to meet Karine. They get engaged, then married, then pregnant. Their baby Pierre is born. The family continues to land various TLC specials documenting their move to Brazil, then eventually back to Kentucky. And then, in summer 2020, things got a little weird. (Well, weirder.)
